Week Two
Time feels like it's moving fast. Sometimes I forget I'm already in my 3rd year...not that I'm counting or anything (grad school aspire-er over here). I really enjoy my classes, and moreover how passionate all my professors are about teaching the subject. I can tell how happy many of them are to write on a white board with dried-out expo markers again. I am trying to process it all in the moment, but the seasons are already changing too. Maybe it's a good thing, that the momentum is continuous. The days used to drag on.

My favorite course thus far is Native American History with Professor Lambert. The content of the class dismantle the Eurocentric narrative we all grow up hearing from a young age and led to believe, and that many others unfortunately continue to. There are a lot of discrepancies in what I thought I knew, and what I never knew about at all. Such as all of the tribes that were located on the West coast and how close they lived from one another. It is a truly eye opening and thought provoking class. I enjoy every class I am taking, but this one is different in that a part of it is unlearning what I've falsely been taught previously.

Despite thinking that I took too much on this semester, which led me to struggle a bit during the spring and summer to feel overwhelmingly burnt out--I have not received any signals of overload. Of course I get the sense of being rushed when I am assigned reading after reading after essay after demand for deep pensive, provoking response one after the other for every single class, but that's just the life of my majors. I am very surprised and relieved that I am okay, and kind of breezing through each week.

A highlight of week two, was attending the UCBA Student Government info session on Thursday. After serving as a Senator for the Tribunal last year, and not being able to attract many members during Tribunal in an online setting, I was elated to see the turnout in person. As well as listen to all of the questions and interest everyone had to potentially be a voice for the student body. I even had the opportunity to speak a bit about my experience and continuing to work for the organization in a broader way as a Senator At-Large. I saw a room of leaders and hope every one of them runs for a position!

To wrap up how my week went, I would say that it definitely was easier than the first. I look forward in that it continues similarly until the end of the year. I am determined to finish strong, and I find these reflections as a way to remind myself that in the process, I should slow down and relish my experience. Once again it all feels like it's moving so fast. Though I am glad to enjoy each minute, whether that's looking out the window during my shuttle commute, the excitement passing a friend in the hallway, exploring a building on Clifton out of curiosity, joining new meetings and making connections, sitting under the mini-forest between Muntz and Walters to study--all of it.
