Week Ten
Here we are. We officially reached double digits. I can't believe I'm already halfway through my 3rd year... although at the same time I can because I want to go to graduate school which means I'll be here for what feels like forever! I love it though. I've been doing good. How about you? How is everything?
The second open house happened this week, which I've learned is one of my favorite events to do. I was a floater for the most part with the exception of doing a few presentations for the Honors program. I had a whole lot of fun just walking up to the professors--I talked to legitimately 90% of them and asking how they are, their year, teaching to students on-campus (or not).
I stopped by the Writing and Study skills Center, a resource I frequent to get my creative writing critiqued, and talked to Eric a lot about graduate school. He reminded me of my professor, Professor Golding so I asked if he knew him and apparently they went to grad school together so he recommended I talk to him more about it so I'll be doing that later this week.
As I mentioned, I had the HONOR (get it?) of doing the presentation for the Honors Program with Professor Gioielli. It is rewarding to be able to speak on my experience and be able to reflect on how far I have come since my first year. I hope that some of the students were able to maximize the most out of my advice!
I also got to come into Prof. Gioielli's 3 honors section courses and talk about my leadership experience. I spoke on the importance of getting engaged and involved on our campus, and how I deeply regret how I wasn't more connected during my first year. Further, I spoke about how speaking as an Ambassador was kind of a full-circle moment for me as I remember sitting in class and listening to the Ambassador talk and how I didn't really listen because I had imposter syndrome convincing myself I was "too quiet" or "had no experience" simply "not enough" for this role. But here I am. So yep, that was pretty cool.
